The Globe & Mail’s Brad Wheeler took a food tour of Queen Street with Gloria Czomko and Steven Hellmann. In Corktown, special mention is made of local favourite Redline Coffee and Espresso. Hellmann also cites Queen East as “the next area to take off.” We’ll take it!
From just north of us, the Toronto Star has a story on the long-delayed re-opening of the renovated Nelson Mandela Park School located at Shuter & Sumach.
The West Don Lands Committee holds their monthly public meeting tonight (Monday, March 25) at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place on the 11th floor of 39 Parliament Street. This month, attendees will see a presentation from representatives from Fred Victor on the affordable housing being built in the West Don Lands.

Two productions make their debut at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts this week. First, starting on March 25, is Soupepper’s production of True West. It runs until May. On March 26, La Ronde — also by Soulepper — kicks off its run. You can buy tickets for both shows at the Young Centre’s website.
For opera fans, the Tapestry New Opera Studio in the Distillery District will play host to Soup Can Theatre’s A Hand of Bridge & No Exit with a run of performances starting on Wednesday, March 27. The show is described as a “bold and genre-blending double bill.” Grab your tickets online.
Also on Wednesday, March 27, the Women in Leadership Foundation will be making use of the Berkeley Street Church for Sweet Talk – Making Bold Moves in Heels. The event promises a “fun-filled soirée that will have you glammed up for a lasting impression and set up for long-term success!” Get tickets here.
Lastly, the Dominion on Queen will play host to a special tribute to the late Stompin’ Tom Connors this Friday, March 29. For just $10, guests will enjoy an all-star line-up of music which will include performances with members of Stompin’ Tom’s band. Doors open at 9 p.m. — bring your best stompin’ boots.
