In this week’s issue of The Grid, Monika Warzecha has an article about a group of neighbours on Bright Street in Corktown banding together to support one of their own who was facing harassment.
The City of Toronto announced last week that artist Paul Raff has been commissioned to design an art fence along the Lower Don Trail. More details about the plan emerged this week in an article in the Toronto Star. Give it a look.
At Urban Toronto comes word that phase two of River City has officially topped off. Meanwhile, phase three has launched.
Corktown fave Adornments on Queen has released their June newsletter. This month, they’re offering 40% off all tableware, barware, linens and anything with script on it. Corktown events for the week of June 8, 2014
Some anticipated Soulpepper shows make their stage debuts this week at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. First, starting Wednesday, June 11, there’s TWELVE ANGRY MEN. It runs through July 19, and you can score tickets online. Then, starting Thursday, June 12, Soulpepper’s critically-acclaimed production of ANGELS IN AMERICA returns for a limited run in conjunction with World Pride. On Saturday, June 14, the EXTENSION ROOM at 30 Eastern Avenue is hosting their LEAP INTO SUMMER OPEN HOUSE. Enjoy $5 classes all day, sample their new and healthy JUICE BARRE menu, and take advantage of great limited-time offer summer sales. Plus, be entered in exclusive draws to win free classes! Finally, don’t forget that the Distillery Sunday Market is up and running each and every Sunday this summer, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 28 Gristmill Lane — under the sculpture. This Sunday, June 15 stick around after the market for the Sunday Summer Music Series in Trinity Square. Between 3 and 5 p.m., indie-acoustic duo FOX AND THE MOON will take the stage.
