Hey Corktowners. See below for an exciting message from StreetARToronto regarding a very cool plan to transform the pillars along King East — underneath the Richmond and Adelaide overpasses — with mural installations this fall.
If you want a closer look at the mural designs proposed for the pillars, head on over to Tandem Coffee at 368 King East where the designs are displayed.
Dear Neighbours,
This fall the pillars on King Street East (underneath the Richmond St. E. and Adelaide St. E. overpasses, just west of Sumach Street) will be transformed by series of mural installations as a part of the StreetARToronto Underpass Program or “StART UP.” StART UP’s mandate is to provide opportunities for artists to create works of art that contribute to the visual landscape of our community, making our City’s underpasses safer and more beautiful. This project is being implemented by StreetARToronto (StART), part of the Public Realm Section of the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division.
We are very excited to have three quality proposals submitted by artists Sean Martindale, Patrick “Peru” Dyer Jalea and Elisa “Shalak” Monreal. As a part of our selection process, we value your input on the design proposals for the site. Please take a look at the designs attached in this email or feel free to view them in person at the following location this week until Thursday August 14th:
Tandem Coffee, 368 King Street East. Opening Hours, 7AM-6PM M-F; 8AM-5PM S-S
If you have any thoughts, please feel free to submit your feedback to the site coordinator Sean Robertson-Palmer at srptittus@gmail.com. The deadline to submit comments is 4:30pm on Thursday August 14th, 2014.
If you have any questions regarding the StreetARToronto program in general please email streetart@toronto.ca.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to your response,
Sincerely,
StreetARToronto (StART)
