CRBA MEETING: We hope all Corktowners and friends enjoyed their Labour Day long weekend! Keep the good vibes going by joining us tomorrow — on Tuesday, September 8 — for the Corktown Residents & Business Association September public meeting.
We’ll be meeting Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Little Trinity Church Annex (403 King St. East). That’s the nicely-renovated historic storefront just east of Parliament on King East.
On the agenda this month is a presentation from Luke Anderson, the CEO of StopGap Foundation, who will tell us about how they are working to make businesses accessible. We’ll also provide updates on the Corktown News, our new neighbourhood newspaper, plus the latest on development, parks improvement, cycling and an assortment of other local issues and concerns.
We hope to see everyone there!
ON STAGE: Alumnae Theatre’s production of Antigone debuts next Friday, September 18. You can get your tickets online.
Meanwhile, the Young Centre for the Performing Arts (in the Distillery District) has just launched Happy Place, which “explores and celebrates the courage, compassion and humour of seven women living amidst each other in the most extraordinary of circumstances.” Buy your tickets by clicking here.
CABBAGETOWN SHORT FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL: There are still some select tickets available for the Cabbagetown Short Film & Video Festival, taking place this Wednesday, September 9 at Daniels Spectrum. You can buy ’em here.
And speaking of our neighbours in Cabbagetown, they’re celebrating with their annual Cabbagetown Festival this Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. An annual favourite! Check out the website for details.
ODIN HOURS: Our pals at Odin Café & Bar are launching their new fall hours and menu this Thursday, September 10, with more opportunity for great local eats and drinks! Check out the details on the Odin website here.
