On May 7, 2013, the CRBA hosted the second-ever Corktown Arts & Culture night at the Dominion on Queen. The event, designed to spotlight all the great cultural work taking place in our community, saw a great line-up of local talent who presented and performed to an audience of neighbours at the Dominion on Queen.
The night’s line-up:
- From the Daniels Spectrum, Outreach & Marketing Coordinator Farid Jalil. Farid brought poet Mustafa Ahmed, who gave a fantastic reading of this poem.
- From the MOonhORsE dance theatre, performer, choreographer and artistic director Claudia Moore.
- Representing the Toronto 2015 Pan / ParaPan Am Games, associate arts & culture producer Robert Daly.
- From the Corktown Chamber Orchestra — and the Corktown Ukelele Jam — Steve McNie.
- Presenting an overview on behalf of the Corktown Heritage Study Group from the Ryerson School of Planning, Liam Smythe.
- From Corktown Comedy and Corktown Productions, Brian Coughlin. Corktown Comedy runs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. at Betty’s.
- From City Event, Deb Lewis, who gave an overview of last year’s successful King East Design District event.
- Artist Gary Helps, who displayed some of his great art pieces created with found objects.
- Dominion on Queen mainstay and Canadian music legend Ronnie Hayward. You can catch Ronnie every weekend at the Dominion on Saturdays from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Thanks to all presenters and performers! Photographer Eric Morse was also kind enough to take some photos, which you can view in the gallery below.
