🌼 Join Us for Community Planting Day! 🌼
Dear Corktowners,
We’re excited to announce that our much-anticipated Sumach St Pollinator Garden Planting Day is just around the corner and we need your green thumbs and enthusiastic spirits to bring it to life!
Event Details:
- Date: September 8, 2024 (subject to change in the case of heavy rain)
- Time: 9 am – noon
- Location: Meet us at the parking lot of Inglenook Community School on Sumach Street.
What We’ll Be Doing:
- Planting a variety of beautiful, pollinator-friendly flowers and shrubs in 2 of the boulevard-facing garden beds on the east side of the Community School (Note that these beds have already been cleared of invasive plants and weeds by volunteers in our community during the Clean-Up Day on July 28th. We thank all those who participated in that event!)
- Creating a vibrant, sustainable habitat for bees, butterflies, and other important pollinators
- Connecting with fellow community members and having fun!
What to Bring:
- Gardening gloves
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- A water bottle to stay hydrated
- Any gardening tools (e.g., shovel, trowel, etc) if you have them
What We’ll Provide:
- Plants, soil, and some tools
- Refreshments and snacks
- Guidance from experienced gardeners
Why Participate?
- Help enhance local biodiversity and support our urban ecosystem
- Enjoy a rewarding day outdoors with friends and neighbors
- Contribute to a beautiful boulevard that everyone can enjoy

Note: This event is open to all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, your help and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated. If you don’t have the time to participate, feel free to just stop by to say hello and show your support to the volunteers during planting!
