Author Thelma Wheatley’s “And Neither Have I Wings to Fly” reveals some of Corktown’s history

Corktowner Sandra Schneider has passed along a book recommendation that I think a lot of us will be interested in.

Thelma Wheatley’s And Neither Have I Wings to Fly looks at the “shocking true story of the institutionalization and abuse of children and adults with intellectual and physical handicaps in Canada’s oldest provincial institution in Orillia, Ontario.” A harrowing and important read, it also includes evocative scenes set in historic Corktown.
