Two new additions to the Corktown streetscape have opened their doors lately, so consider this part of the official welcome wagon!
Flame Shack
Serving up burgers on the corner of Queen & Sumach, Flame Shack brings another much-needed lunchtime option to Corktown. They’re located at 506 Queen Street East.
Flame Shack has already scored a great five-star review on Yelp, with Victoria B having this to say:
This new burger joint is a great addition to the hood! They have taken a page from the burgers priest – fresh ground beef rolled into a ball and the flattened on the grill. Great toppings (highly recommend the volcano and the smoke burgers), nice fresh-cut fries (poutine is available but we haven’t tried it), and really good milkshakes. The guys working there are very friendly too.
Check ’em out.

Bentley Flanders
Furniture retailer Bentley Flanders has brought the King East Design District a little further east with their new location at 573 King East.
Check out their Facebook page or website for some photos of their products. They’ve made a great use of the space in the old Lung Society building. And we can now breathe a little easier knowing that some of the retail space in our neighbourhood is getting snapped up.

Switchback Cyclery
And though they don’t call Corktown home, I want to give a special shout-out to Switchback Cylcery, who just opened up their bike shop on the other side of the Queen Street bridge in Riverside. They’re at 561 Queen Street East.
