Upcoming: Eats & Beats in Riverside on June 7

Our friends across the bridge in Riverside wanted to invite all Corktowners to come out for Eats & Beats in Riverside on Saturday, June 7. Here’s the details:

Come join us for ‘Eats & Beats in Riverside StreetFEST’. On Saturday, June 7th, from 1:00 PM – 6:00PM, the Riverside will be hosting their annual Street Fest, showcasing Riverside’s family friendly food outlets and unique small town in the big city atmosphere. The Riverside District is renowned for its home design shops, heritage architecture, coffee shops, food providers and popular contemporary restaurants. Riverside extends from the DVP to just past Degrassi Street along Queen Street East.

Local eateries will be opening their doors serving tasting plates and musical entertainment. There will be a diversity of event destination points with live music, and entertainment including: cooking demos, belly dancing workshops, instrument making, kid’s crafts, henna tattoos, food and art walking tours and of course some mouthwatering Riverside tasters.

This year’s Eats and Beats is “Bringing down Broadview” with all sorts of funk in music, food and of course fun!!! Fresh music will enliven Riverside’s streetscape with sounds ranging from Jazz and Blues to Irish Celtic.

A “Happiness Block Party” will be featured in the host of festivities which allows you to stop and really take in the beauty that life has to offer; like putting flowers in your hair, the styling of Woodshed Orchestra and the beautiful sounds of children’s laughter.

There will be “Big Horn Beats on Saulter.” From 1:00pm-3:30pm there will be fresh music with local horn band, Don Valley Stompers – a powerful New Orleans style brass band, plus other surprise musical guests. We will also be raising the beat to celebrate RTC’s 100 Anniversary at 1:00pm with a community cake cutting, Kid’s interactive crafts and activities, including face painting, musical origami, rainbow necklace making and colourful cookies!

“Nell & Natasha’s Blues & Rhythms” Feed your stomach and soul at Nell & Natasha’s Annual Free BBQ and HUDU Rising Blues Band performing classics and originals from 2:00-6:00pm. PLUS face painting, balloons, prizes and more!

Accompanied with Eats & Beats is the Riverdale Art Walk which is a two-day (June 7th & 8th), public fine art exhibition showcasing established and emerging artists in retail spaces, artist’s studios and Jimmie Simpson Park in Toronto’s flourishing Queen Street East arts district.
