Happy New Year!

Don’t forget: this Tuesday, January 8, the Corktown Residents & Business Association presents ARTS & CULTURE NIGHT at the Dominion on Queen. Read all the details!

Seems like all the news about Corktown these days has to do with development. Last week, Urban Toronto published some nice shots of the forest of cranes that dominate the West Don Lands. One of their forum posters also scored some great photographs of the not-yet-open Don River Park.

The Toronto Star’s Karen von Hahn visited Body Blitz’s new Corktown location over the holidays and wrote a glowing review. She calls the Body Blitz experience “a surefire way to feel new again.” Why haven’t you gone yet?

For an artistic experience this month, the Arta Gallery in the Distillery District is exhibiting a collection of beautiful abstract paintings from a variety of artists. In addition, the Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park is presenting a collection of paintings by 10 local artists this Saturday, January 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The world famous Corktown Ukelele Jam has kicked off another year of strumming tiny instruments with a packed calendar of events, practices and performances. Visit their website for all the details.

A couple of items of interest from nearby neighbours. Riverdale Farm is currently recruiting for their Stewardship Group. And the Cabbagetown-Regent Park Community Museum has just launched an online survey – give ’em some feedback if you’ve got a sec.
