Neighbourhood Cleanup: St. Paul to Power Street, September 22

On Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Corktown Residents and Business Association is organizing a cleanup of the path and embankment between St Paul Street and Power immediately north of the Richmond Street ramp.

We had a successful cleanup two years ago when the City removed the fence at the bottom of the embankment and made the area accessible to the community, but the garbage has piled up again and now we are tackling a larger area which includes the magnificent avenue of tress and pathway south of St Paul’s school and the Basilica.

Please join us in this effort.

If we get a good turnout for this cleanup, we will be encouraged to arrange future cleanups in other parts of the community.

Garbage bags and other cleanup gear will be provided but please bring your own work gloves and dress accordingly.  Spikes or “grabbers” to pick up the garbage will be useful – there are objects which we mortals would describe as “hazardous” so care must be taken (and we will have appropriate disposal containers if we find sharps).

Any other cleanup equipment that you can bring is also much appreciated. (Such as rakes, wheelbarrows etc.)

Pizza will be served to all participants courtesy of the Magic Oven.

Registration is not necessary but it is appreciated just to get a sense of numbers so we, and Magic Oven, can plan appropriately.  If you intend to join us please email

(In Case of HEAVY rain the cleanup will be delayed to Sunday, September 23 but this is unlikely given the current forecast.)
