Neighbourhood News is a list of things that have happened or will happen soon in Corktown.
SWIM ANYONE? A recent photo of the Regent Park Aquatics Centre, currently under construction at Dundas & Sackville. The facility, just north of Corktown, looks set to open soon. PHOTO BY SHAWN MICALLEF (Spacing).
Do you like movies? Do you like being adjacent to the water? If so, try combining the two at the second annual Sail-in Cinema at Sugar Beach this weekend. For those on ship and shore, a floating screen will offer free showings of movies like The Poseidon Adventure, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Hook. Check out the website for times and tickets.
The National Post has a quick look at the Corktown Lofthouses, new units by Streetcar Developments attached to their 510 King East development. The new Nissan Downtown retail space in the same building is set to open on September 4.
This Saturday at 8:30, head to the Dominion on Queen to check out The Firecrackers for an evening of classic burlesque. Tickets are $15 at the door. Check the Facebook event for more details.
And consider topping off the burlesque experience by visiting our neighbours in Cabbagetown to celebrate the grand opening of Toronto’s latest Yogurty’s location. Running both Saturday and Sunday, the celebratory event promises giveways, in-store entertainment and, of course, frozen yogurt.
