Here is the update on the River Street Watermain Construction, from the Senior Engineer, Major Roads, Design & Construction, who oversees the project:
The excavation directly on River just north of Queen St is for the installation of a second water service (fire sprinklers) that connects to the surrounding buildings (The Vinegar Lofts and Humane Society) and this should be complete by end of this week. It is the last piece of work and the contractor will be cleaning up and demobilizing once these services are completed.
Soon, the new signals at Shuter will be activated and crosswalk formally relocated. As well, the red light camera work at River South of Dundas will be installed with the red light camera installation happening shortly afterwards by Transportation Services.
The remainder of the sidewalk, curb and road work will start up in the spring (hopefully mid April, pending weather), and should take 4 to 6 weeks.
A public notice is being prepared and will be distributed shortly to the residents.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
