Corktown News & Events for the week of September 29, 2014
You have until October 11 to catch George F. Walker’s ESCAPE FROM HAPPINESS at Alumnae Theatre. Here’s a sneak peak trailer:
You can get your tickets to the show online. If you haven’t been to a show at Alumnae before, we’d highly recommend it.
White Elephant Restaurant & Bar has put out the call to Corktowners to come by their location at 366 Queen East on Fridays for live music with no cover. They’ve got a fantastic menu of authentic Thai cuisine as well. You can check out the menus on their website.
Tickets are available now for the upcoming Cooking with Canadian Craft Beer event taking place at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse. It’ll happen on Wednesday, October 15 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are just $40 and include all food and beer tastings. You can RSVP online.
Friends of Corktown Common is gearing up to host Corktown’s first-ever official CHEER STATION on October 19 for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. You can come out and cheer on the runners — there will be lots of activities and a DJ spinning fresh beats — or support the community by pledging our financial support to Corktown’s champion runners, with all proceeds going to the great 40 Oak organization in Regent Park. Find out all the details at the Friends of Corktown Common website.
Finally, a gentle reminder that the October meeting of the Corktown Residents & Business Association is set for Tuesday, October 7. With the Dominion on Queen closed for renovations, we’ll be meeting at the Little Trinity Church Annex, located at 403 King East. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. We’ll have an agenda posted shortly.
