A few news items to start off 2014.
This TUESDAY, JANUARY 7 marks the first CRBA PUBLIC MEETING of 2014. It will be held at 7 p.m. at the Dominion on Queen (500 Queen Street East). An agenda will be forthcoming. There’s no doubt in my mind that you should be there — it’ll be great.
Over the holidays, Toronto Life took a look at what’s cooking at the Gilead Wine Bar, which is now offering dinner service. Take a look — and be sure and stop by and support this Corktown gem.
Torontoist has named their 2013 heroes and villains. On the hero side of things is CORKTOWN COMMON, our new and already much-loved neighbourhood park. Jamie Bradburn’s write-up includes a fantastic illustration of the park by Jeremy Kai. Check it out.
Because it’s that time of year, Councillor Pam McConnell has posted the City of Toronto procedures for snow removal to her website. Let’s do our best to keep the sidewalks clear.
At Urban Toronto, Matthew Lavoie takes a look at the under-construction Regent Park Central Park, which will be the main public space for the newly revitalized neighbourhood. It looks to add another nice touch of green to the downtown east side.
Corktown is home to some of Toronto’s coolest houses. At Houzz, take a peek at the five-storey tower home that took up residence in Corktown a couple of years ago.
Finally, for dance, yoga and general fitness lovers maybe looking to make good on some resolutions, Corktown favourite THE EXTENSION ROOM is holding a New Years Sale, on now through January 11. You can score 15% off class cards or an unlimited two-month membership for just $140 per month. Don’t miss it.
